Los Verdes takes a look back at the local organizations we’ve supported over the years. Consider some of these organizations for Giving Tuesday.

Central Texas has a higher percentage of food insecure households than most of the country. ATX Free Fridge Project exists to combat food insecurity and food waste in Austin through 24/7 freely available fridges in neighborhoods throughout the city.

Avow Texas - https://avowtexas.org/
Avow is a c4 non-profit that works to secure unrestricted abortion access for every Texan. Avow Foundation for Abortion Access is a c3 non-profit that works to educate Texans on the importance of abortion access. Avow PAC is a political action committee that works to elect champions for abortion access.

Bobby Jonese CSF - https://bobbyjonescsf.org/
The Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 2007,  ultimately licensing the name of Bobby Jones in 2019 to become the Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation (Bobby Jones CSF). Our goal is to raise awareness and find a cure for Chiari malformation (CM), syringomyelia (SM) and related disorders.

Casa Marianella welcomes displaced immigrants and promotes self-sufficiency by providing shelter and support services.

Power soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. Participants include persons with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities.

By providing weekend meals to students who lose their subsidized meals offered during the school week, HopeAustin ensures the brightest future for our children and the broader community by ensuring children have every opportunity to learn and thrive without hunger.

Laundry Project - https://laundrybycurrent.org/
The Laundry Project assists lower-income families with meeting a basic need – washing clothes and linens, by turning laundromats into community centers of hope. Laundry fees are paid for while volunteers assist with laundry services, entertain children, and create a caring space at the laundromat.

Meals on Wheels - https://www.mealsonwheelscentraltexas.org/
The mission of Meals on Wheels Central Texas is to support this growing number of older adults through programs that improve their health and quality of life.

NASA Soccer - https://www.northaustinsoccer.org/
NASA is a grassroots, not-for-profit organization mainly run by dedicated volunteers. Every year, hundreds of children in Austin play soccer with our club.

Queertopia - https://www.queertopiatx.org/
Queertopia’s mission is community empowerment led by amplifying and celebrating QTBIPOC voices and taking direct action to combat the housing inequity that has swept our city. We are a group of abolitionist harm reductionists with lived experience in trauma, homelessness, substance use, recovery, and neurodivergency.

The SAFE Alliance exists to stop abuse for everyone by serving the survivors of child abuse, sexual assault and exploitation, and domestic violence. We are dedicated to ending violence through prevention, advocacy, and comprehensive services for individuals, families, and communities that have been affected by abuse.

Todos Juntos Learning Center - https://todosjuntoslc.org/
Todos Juntos Learning Center provides an inclusive, dual-generation education program in Central Texas for English Language Learner families in order to create a successful, thriving community.
Through educating both children and their parents, we create an opportunity for the entire family to feel at home in their community, providing better educational outcomes for kids and a stronger path to career success for adults.

Workers Defense Project - https://workersdefense.org/
a statewide member-based organization fighting for better working conditions for low-wage, immigrant workers in Texas. Workers Defense is a national leader and one of the most effective worker centers in the country fighting for stronger worker protections in the construction industry.
